Hino truck sales are forging ahead in 2010.

Hino truck sales for 2010 are mirroring the return to business confidence in PNG.

With 8 months of the year completed, sales for Hino in PNG have already exceeded the total units sold for the entire year of 2009. At the end of August 2010, Hino sales reached 189, while for last year; total sales for the year were 182 units.

“There is certainly increased business confidence in PNG this year as compared to last year,” said David Lowe, National Truck and Equipment Manager Ela Motors. “The impact of the LNG project, plus the flow on effect to other businesses, has stimulated growth across all sectors of the community. We are pleased that with the Hino model range, we can cover all sectors of the truck market, from Light Truck with the Hino 300 to the Heavy Duty 700 range. This has certainly contributed to the success of the range this year. If you also add in Hino’s reliability and durability, which make it ideally suited to the tough PNG conditions, then it’s a pretty unbeatable combination.”

The Hino range was first launched in PNG in 1976 and in that time has carved out an enviable reputation for reliability and getting the job done under very trying conditions.

The range in 2010 consists of the Hino 300 with 2,500kg to 4,100kg payload options; the Hino 500 which covers the 6,000kg payload to 10,000kg payload; and the Hino 700 covering 16,000kg to 22,000kg payload. Options include tipper bodies, dump truck and prime mover body configurations.
