Will Genia, rugby super star and Ela Motors Combine.
Ela Motors and PNG Born Wallaby Rugby Superstar Will Genia have announced the start of an ongoing sponsorship relationship with Genia being named as an Ambassador for Ela Motors.
“Will is a proud Papua New Guinean who has chosen to take on the best in the world in his chosen sport.” Marketing Manager Ela Motors, Paul Abbot said, “At Ela Motors, we encourage passion, pride and commitment and there is no doubt that Will demonstrates these qualities in all he does. Competing as he does at the highest possible level of the game, he consistently delivers and is a great role model for all young Papua New Guineans to aspire to.”
Born in Port Moresby, Genia was educated at Brisbane Boys College finishing in 2005, and he played GPS, Queensland and Australian Schoolboys rugby in 2005.
On the 7th November 2009, Genia played his first international game in Europe which happened to be an 18-9 victory against England. He played exceptionally well in this game, picking up the Man of the Match Award for his contribution to the match.
Genia was the Captain of the 2010 Queensland Reds after James Horwill suffered an injury and became something of a crowd favourite for his flair and willingness to “have a go”. Genia finished 2010 as the winner of the Pileki Award, as chosen by his peers and was also winner of the People’s Choice.
“Will continues to come home on a regular basis and it is during these visits that we shall team up with him on joint activities. With the Rugby World Cup scheduled for late 2011, interest in Rugby will be high and Will‟s profile in his home country will further increase” concluded Abbot.
